I’ve had a Prolific account for a while, but I’ve recently started paying much more attention to it.
Why?
Because I’m currently trying to work out which side hustles actually deserve a place in my attempt to replace my £43,000 salary.
And Prolific has become slightly more interesting than I originally gave it credit for.
It is still largely a research platform where you get paid to take part in studies and surveys.
But I am also now seeing short AI-related tasks, including tasks that take around 15 minutes and have been paying me roughly £3.60 each.
So, naturally, I have decided to conduct another one of my extremely scientific Side Hustle Fund experiments:
How much can I actually earn from Prolific when I make a deliberate effort to use it?
If you've followed The Side Hustle Fund for a while, you've probably seen me mention Social Tip.
Out of all the little side hustles I've tested, this is one of the few that actually fits quite nicely into my life.
I'm not spending hours pitching brands.
I'm not applying for endless UGC jobs.
And I'm not completing a 25-minute survey for 73p.
Instead, Social Tip essentially allows me to earn money from creating content about brands and products I already use.
Askable is one of those side hustle platforms that I really like when it works.
The problem is that it doesn’t always come up with the goods.
I’ve had studies that paid very well for a relatively small amount of my time, but I’ve also had plenty of occasions where I’ve answered the screening questions, looked like I qualified and then discovered the study was already full.
So I definitely wouldn’t treat Askable as reliable income.
But I would absolutely keep it on my list.
